Adventures in Online Dating

7:08 PM

So, for this post I have decided to take on a new subject...dating.

Let me give those of you that don't know me a little bit of background.  I am recently single after a few years of dating the same person.  I have a lot of awesome friends but they are all in serious, committed relationships which makes meeting anyone suitable for dating difficult. Long story short...I have decided to try out online dating.

Here are the 5 main types that I have encountered, this is also a great reference for anyone considering online dating..

The guy you don't like but stalks you:  He sends you multiple "Sup" messages and then gets upset when you don't answer.  I like to call this guy a creeper...he may or may not be in the bushes right now...(only joking...sort of.)

The guy you like but doesn't like you (aka stupid): You send him a message...you see he reads it...and you don't get a response...ouch. Try to pick your broken ego off the floor and move on because he is obviously too dumb to see how fab you are!

The guy your mom doesn't want you to like: (AKA all of my ex-boyfriends)  He's cute, he seems nice and he probably has tattoos and muscles...(in my case) this guy ends up being a huge self absorbed jerk who drains you emotionally and financially. Yes, he's hot...but not worth the pain. Stay away!
Just so we are clear, none of my exes look like this....
The guy you want your mom wants you to date: The nice guy..ahh..yes.  The guy with pictures with his grandma, wearing polo shirts.  He probably has a few pictures where he's wearing a tie or dancing with a little girl that is his niece or something adorable.  You, of course, SHOULD like this guy...but probably won't. Come back to this guy when you are tired of the tattooed, unemployed guy.

The guy you like and that likes you: YES! You found someone that you like and that seems to like you!! This is the best feeling in the world.  If he's smart, funny, and worthy of you hang on to this gem.  Enjoy your date and continue being your awesome, fantastic self.

Because every great first date ends with a kiss...on a mountaintop
Moral of the story, Besties...dating is supposed to be fun. Sure, it can be painful and awkward but ultimately as long as you are safe, having fun and enjoying the company of who you are with, don't worry too much about what's going to happen in the future.  Try to enjoy the moment!

XOXO and have tons of fun dating!

  1. There is absolutely nothing wrong with polo shirts and not having tattoos. One day you'll listen to your mother! :)

  2. Anyone posting about about their personal relationships online, is clearly single for a reason. I see this as a what not to be like too guys.

    1. I appreciate your comment but if you read the article you would realize that I wasn't calling anyone out personally or even giving my actual dating experience. This was a post about online dating that was supposed to be funny and silly. If it bothers you feel free to move on.
      Have a wonderful day!
